The Kieselbach Family Fund
Emma and Alexander Kieselbach were born on March 10, 2008 at 23 weeks and 3 days. They survived only a few hours. Jeff and I have been blessed with four boys since then, Chase, Andrew, Grant, and Lane. The boys have always known about their older siblings, and we have celebrated their birthdays within our family. Ten years ago, when Grant was five years old, he asked how Emma and Alex got birthday presents in heaven. It was then that we decided to give gifts to others in honor of Emma and Alex.
Over the last ten years, we have done some amazing projects; NICU care packages, book drives, collected bandaids for elementary schools, created birthday bags for the Worthington Food Pantry, worked with FleetFeet to donate running shoes to Groveport Madison High School and last year we held a prom dress drive to collect dresses and funds for formal attire for kids in the foster care system.
This year, their 18th birthday, we have created a fund with the help of the Olentangy Education Foundation to give the gift of education for kids in the Olentangy School District. Emma and Alex would be graduating from high school this year, beginning their college educations, and excited to be planning for their lives as adults. This fund, the Kieselbach Family Fund, will be used to support programs and initiatives that directly benefit students enrolled in the Specialized Learning Centers within Olentangy Schools. These funds may also be used to support programs specifically serving students with Autism, learning disabilities, and/or students participating in the Olentangy Special Olympics Program.
Our goal is to maintain this fund to provide programs and experiences for children that otherwise wouldn't be possible if not for Emma and Alex. Our gift to Emma and Alex, is to keep their memory alive and while they were so small, and their time with us so brief, their impact will be felt for years to come.
