OEF Grants Program

The Olentangy Education Foundation was established as a non-profit corporation in 1990 to enhance the academic programs of the Olentangy Local School District (OLSD). Annually the Foundation accepts applications from any staff within the district wishing to enhance the education programs. The Foundation evaluates all applications in June and recommends the proposals that best reflect innovative programs to enhance the academic excellence in Olentangy Schools.

2010-11 Grants

Middle School Greenhouse Project
This grant will assist in the construction of a greenhouse for a middle school. The greenhouse will serve as a hands-on learning environment for science classes and provide year-round connections to the middle schools’ wellness initiative.
Creating a Healthy Learning Environment
This will support the creation of a healthy academic climate for Olentangy’s Alternative Education Program.
I See the Rhythm
A world drum package will be purchased for an elementary school to assist kindergarteners through 5th graders participating in general music learn more about world music, rhythms and cultures.
Bringing the World to the World Language Classroom
This grant will fund the purchase of a SmartBoard for World Language classrooms at the high school level. With this technology, students will be able to obtain a better grasp of grammatical and vocabulary concepts.
Project FLIP
FLIP video cameras will be purchased be help support the technology department at the building for the overflow middle school students.
Senteos to Guide Instruction in Math
Funds for this project will support the purchase of a student response system for 4th and 5th grade students. The student response system will give the teachers instant feedback to assess the understanding of various math concepts.
Engaging Students with Enlarged Content using ELMO Document Cameras
A document camera will be purchased for use by a 6th grade team to enhance the learning process by having easy visual access to work samples, reading passages, science experiments and 3D shapes and images.
Raising the Bar for Calculus
This grant will purchase a SmartBoard and student response system for use in high school AP Calculus, Honors Pre-Calculus and Discrete Math classes.
Take Care Club
A service club will be initiated at an elementary school to increase student awareness about helping those in need.
Science Equipment
This grant will help fund the purchase of equipment for a high school Science Department that will assist the students and staff with various experiments.
SmartBoard for World Languages
A SmartBoard will be purchased for use in a 7th and 8th grade foreign language classroom. This will enable the teacher to clearly articulate quality learning targets for the students.
Enhancing Instruction with ELMO
This grant will fund the purchase of a document camera and visual presenter for use at the 4th and 5th grade elementary level.
TouchSmart Desktop in the Multiple Disabilities Classroom
A TouchSmart Desktop will be purchased for use by elementary students with various learning disabilities.
ELMO Document Camera for Reading and Writing Achievement
This ELMO camera and projector will allow the teacher to provide instant feedback for the students in the high school English classroom. It will enable students to review their work instantly, help them with critical reading skills and gain understanding in the editing process.
